JESUS BEARS HIS CROSS
MARK 15:20
After mocking him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him
Lord Jesus, you carried the cross through the rough streets of Jerusalem: be with those who are loaded with burdens beyond their strength. You bore the weight of our sins when you carried the cross: To you, Jesus, bearing a cross not your own, be honour and glory with the Father and the Holy spirit, now and forever. Amen
Jesus, just like many other condemned criminals of his time, takes up his cross and begins the long walk to the place of execution.
Weak from torture, we see him struggling under the weight of the 125 pound bar, as it presses, scratches and cuts his already bleeding back
He struggles, trusting in the Father to whom He has committed all things but also aware of the agony and the weight
What do we struggle with today, what do we stumble under the weight of? Racism and prejudice, violence and oppression, poverty and loss.
Maybe you are stumbling and struggling today, feeling the weight of all that bears down on you. Know that Jesus struggles too. Carrying not only his cross but sharing yours as well.
